Ever Green Popper Frog - Topwater Action
Hi Guys!
Last Sunday I visited a good friend on his lake, because my home lake is at the moment full of people which escape the heat. He invited me to fish with him the last hours of the day, so I took the Ever Green Popper Frog and the Ever Green Noisy Dachs with me. I hoped to get a nice Topwater-Strike from a Pike.
When I arrived at the lake, my first impression was great. There was a lot of cover inside with a mix of water lilies. After few casts I had my first attack, but this pike only hit my leader and I can`t set my hook.
After my first use of the Ever Green "POPPER FROG" I undestand why this bait is one of the favorites of Toshifumi Kikumoto. It is a great mix between a Frog and a Popper. The large recess in the head push a lot of water and makes a huge splash during every jerk with the rod tip. Also the sound of these splashes listen similar to the sound when a Black Bass attackes a Baitfish at the surface. The Popper Frog is equipped with a Twin-Hook System, which guaranteed normally a safe hook seeting. On the back he's having rubber skirts which makes a nice attraction also during the Stop-And-Go moves. If that was not enough you have the possibility to install a spinner blade on the tail of the frog.
I used the Ever Green Popper Frog with following setup:
Rod: Ever Green The Super Explosion HCSC-72X
Reel: Daiwa Tatula HD with Golden Mean Centipede Handle D100
Line: Daiwa Tournament 8Braid 60lb
Some casts after, my first strike, a second pike hit my Popper Frog, but the attack was to soft and I can`t set the hook again. Now he has his first scars
Finally I changed to the Ever Green Swimming Trooper in combination with a Keitech Swing Impact Fact as Trailer. After I rolled this setup over an area of sunken trees ... "BANG" ... I caught my first pike. It was not a huge one but he fought like a monster!
At this trip I also used the first time the new Ever Green Trunk and I really love it. It is perfect to storage your fishing tackle safetly in your car!
Tight Lines, Christoph
